Types of External Data that can be imported

GeoHECRAS can utilize a variety of data:

  • HEC‑RAS Projects (*.prj)
  • AutoCAD and Bentley MicroStation Drawing Files (*.dwg, *.dxf)
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D and Bentley MicroStation Terrain Surfaces (via LandXML)
  • GIS Data (*.shp, *.gdb, *.mdb)
  • 3D Models (via SketchUp)
  • Survey Data
  • Elevation Data
  • Raster Imagery Data

For example, survey data can be used to import river reach alignments, cross section layouts, and more. The user can import a survey of cross sections contained within the river channel, and then have the software automatically extend the cross sections in the overbanks areas extracting geometry data from a terrain surface generated using LiDAR data.

The following elevation data file formats are supported. This data can be utilized for extracting cross section geometry as well as generating flood maps.
